Submission Guidelines
The Journal of Magazine & New Media Research is published two times a year. The deadline for the fall issue is October 15, and the deadline for the spring issue is March 15. Articles should be submitted to the editor or managing editor by e-mail with Word attachments. Please limit length to 30 double-spaced pages including references. Please keep use of tables to a minimum since they can present formatting problems in online publishing. A 100-word abstract should accompany all manuscripts. All scholarly articles will be refereed by three judges.
We welcome submissions of non-refereed articles for our Essays and Reports department. These may include reports on magazine conferences or special events, book reviews, or opinion pieces about magazines or the magazine industry. If in doubt about the suitability of a piece, a query letter to the editor is encouraged.

The electronic format of this journal allows the use of art and photographs as well as audio and video where appropriate. The author need not submit such materials when submitting the manuscripts. However, the abstract sheet should indicate the availability of such materials. Articles are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they are original material and are not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors should prepare a separate cover sheet that includes the name, mail and electronic address and institutional affiliation of the author. All material submitted for publication must conform to the style and documentation requirements specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Third Edition) or The Chicago Manual of Style (13th Edition). Please use end notes instead of footnotes.
Once a manuscript is accepted, the author will provide the manuscript on a PC zip disk, preferably using Microsoft Word. In addition, a hard copy must be provided. Formatting of manuscripts and accompanying tables should be kept to a minimum. For example, boldface and italic should be avoided. Authors are responsible for securing copyright approval of all photos, art, audio and video.
